What is a GP referral to the Mental Health Care Plan?
This means that with a mental health care plan, the Government will give you back some of the cost of your session. If you have not already obtained a GP Mental Health Care Plan, attend your GP for a long consult to discuss the issues you are facing. Your GP will then determine if you qualify for a GP Mental Health Care Plan.
FEES
The standard consultation fees are as follows:
Psychologist $185/session
Clinical Psychologist $227/session
If a mental health care plan is in place, Medicare will rebate up to 10 individual sessions and 10 group sessions each calendar year. Additionally, Medicare has added 10 further rebatable sessions as a COVID initiative.
The out of pocket expenses for individual consultations is approximately $98 per session. The out of pocket expenses for group sessions is $0 as these sessions are bulk billed.
Private Patient
Without a MHCP you can attend as a private patient. If you decide to do this you pay the full amount. Your health insurance may cover some of your fee. You will need to make your own inquiries with your insurance organisation.
PAYMENT
Cash or Credit Card payment accepted. Payment is required on the day of consultation.
